removing window sealant

I have a 1995 Jayco travel trailer. It had some water damage that I am in the process of repairing.
1. What is the best and easyist way to remove the old bytul sealing tape?
2. I purchased some 1/2 in thick closed cell foam gasket material. Is that the best way to re install a window?
3. I also purchased some 3M 4200 marine caulk and sealant. Would you recommend using this to glue the windows back in? It is quite a problem to remove the gasket material, but if it does the job and does not leak, then what is the difference.
4. Any other suggestions about re installing a window with the corrugated siding, so it doesn' leak.
Thanks Tom
