Renting the trailer out

Ok how many people will rent their trailer out.
At work I have had a few people say I should rent my trailer out to our association.
I have worked to hard to get this trailer, And I an not sure I want someone who has no Idea what they are doing using the trailer.
I sometimes think, sure but then have second thoughts
I would let some people I know use it , But I would pull it and set it up for them.

Tell them to use their hard earned money to buy one and then see how they feel.
I don't think I would. There are companies that do that.
Not saying all renters are bad but some have the thought,
IT'S NOT MINE AND I'M GOING TO GET MY MONEY'S WORTH FROM IT
I rented a house to a work mate once, biggest mistake I ever made.
Your nicer than I am. I wouldn't let anyone I know use mine and you said you would. I paid to much for my RV to let someone use it and maybe mess it up. But that's just me.

Not sure how it is in CAN, but in many states you would run into insurance and registration issues since it would be considered commercial use. You would also void the warranty, per the owners manual.

Personally I would never even consider it, I am far too particular with my things.

Insurance issues

I agree...Insurance in a rental situation may eliminate coverage .

I know people who do it. I would never even consider it. My bed will never be slept in by anyone but me and my wife/ Maybe a grand child now and again.

It would be no different than a motel room.

Many, many years ago when DH and I were first married we bought our very first used (and very, very hard earned) camper. It was a tear-drop one which I don't remember the brand. We took great pride in it. Loaned it to DH's uncle for a guys trip. Did not come back in the same shape it left in having met with a bad backing experience. It was never the same after that. I "might" lend ours to our kids but so far they haven't asked and I'm not offering. Nobody takes care of your stuff like you do! JMO!

Our insurance broker told us that we can lend/rent it to friends on occasion, but if it's to a stranger, the insurance would consider it a commercial use and might not cover it. I would have no problem renting a close friends or family, but not to people I "just know a bit".

+1!

We have let people borrow our things before, and we must have bad friends or something; it either never comes back or it comes back broken. NO WAY am I lending my TT out to ANYONE (or my truck or my boat etc.). Not even family. Heck, I don't even like people staying in it with us! Call me selfish if you want, but I earned the money to pay for it; if you want one, go out and buy one or rent one from people who do that.

I would never loan or rent mine to anyone. I have seen too many people who own a camper and still have no idea how to properly use or care for it. Let someone who is a total newbie use it? No way!

There are numerous places in our area which rent TTs and MHs. Likely these exist almost anyplace.

Unless your prepared to operate as a rental agency would, ie, willing to sue for damages, take large deposits etc then don't do it...not worth the few $ you may receive. From my point of view, upside is small, downside is huge..

I don't even like to loan my utility trailer to my son. It comes back with the tongue bent or the wires worn from being dragged.
That's when it comes back. Often I have to go get it to use it.

Same here. I take particularly good care of my trailer and truck. I know how everything works. Even though I had an Outback TT before, my Jayco has some things that are different.

Too risky, no matter how good a friend someone is.

A friend of mine has a saying to the effect that I'll lend you my hammer, but never my tent. He had a bad experience with lending a tent to a friend many years ago. Imagine what could happen to your trailer.

Let me equate it to a quote I once read:

"The only true off road vehicle is a rental car."

Like the majority here, I'd say no way.
