Replace Awning?

We have a 2015 Whitehawk Ultralite. I noticed there is about a 6" split in the awning where it goes over the roller on the motor side. It appears to be just through the vinyl and not through the core. Both ourselves and the trailer are getting on so we may only keep it a couple of more years. I'd rather not have to replace the awning entire. I was wondering if patching the split with either awning tape or gaffer tape would keep us going for the time needed or if it is more likely the awning would come off the roller or some other disaster at the wrong time and place? Thoughts?

Can you post a picture of the split? It will help get you a more definitive answer. Without a picture the best I think you will get is someone's best guess.

I had mine completely split at this location. Duck tape got me by for several years. Do it right and it is not noticeable

We used eternabond tape on my buddy's awning. Still going strong 5-6 years later.
