Replacing LED boards in puck lights

Under cabinet light in kitchen quit. It has a 9 LED board marked WYD-9. I have ordered a replacement and it looks like it comes with two wires, so I have to cut the wires to the old and solder in the new one. Unfortunately the wires to the old one comes out only about an inch so I have to cut the old wires at the board. Anyone done this?

I noticed in my camper Jayco doesn't use wire twist nuts. I stopped by HomeDepot and picked up a pack of these 'new-fangled' wire quick connectors and it was really easy to use. You don't need much wire (.5 inch?) that slides into each hole to have a solid connection.

I only wish it was easy to disconnect, you have to cut them off because the wires will not pull out. For your use I don't think that's a worry.

Thank you, I think I am stuck with soldering because of the short wires may not leave room for any kind of wire nut, but that is OK.

Have you removed the light from the cabinet yet? Most likely it will have a 6" pig tail of wire, that connects to the TT wiring.

Yes I removed the light, but as I said the wires only comes out about an inch, which makes it hard to replace the LED board.

I'm an electrician and this is the best solution. Of course you come here and ask for advice and then you insist on soldering so do what ever you want to. How will you insulate the solder joint???

I'd like to see a picture, because mine must have been different. I removed the old puck completely. Cut the 12V wires 4" away from the puck.

I ordered this guy https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 thinking it would be a drop in replacement.

It wasn't.
So I pulled the LED board out of the new puck, unscrewed the old board and swapped the whole board. Wires came along with enough length to reinstall w/out issues.
