replacing thermostat

I bought a new thermostat to replace the original mechanical thermostat in my 2017 QBW212. This is the model:

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm pretty sure it will do the job, but let me know if you think different.

My real question is: what is the best way to attach something like this to the wall? I'm guessing drywall plugs don't work?

Thanks,
Grant and Fiona

Short screws, just like the original.

Our 2918 QBW 212 has an OEM digital thermo, but in looking at the link you provided, it says “heat only.” Ours controls the furnace as well as the AC. Do you not have AC?

You, sir, are right. Returning it. Any suggestions on a replacement? I've heard the non-mechanical thermostats are quieter and don't lead to over-heating?

I installed the Coleman 8330-3862 in my 2017 Greyhawk's main area for both heat & AC and it works great. Amazon shows it currently unavailable. I also installed the white version (8330-3362) of this in my son's 5th wheel and it is just as nice.

I have attached the Coleman catalog for you to browse. I have heard that some people bought thermostats from Home Depot that worked. You just have to pick one that is battery operated and not specifically for 24 volt systems.

One of my first mods was to swap out the analog thermostats with digital. Coleman 8330-3862 . They are available if you look around online. They are much more reliable and accurate. Color for color replacement on wiring.

Caution be careful and remove 12vdc from the thermostat while installing it because a reversed wire can ruin it. The bedroom unit is the same as the other with the heating wires left off.

Here’s what came standard in our 212 QBW. I don’t know if it’s the best you can get, but it works great for us, both AC and furnace.

These models of the Coleman thermostats appear to have been discontinued which likely explains why many places show out of stock and they are becoming harder and harder to find as inventory runs out. rvupgrades.com is now subbing the 8330-3862 to the 9430-3382 which is a narrower unit. Glad I got the 8330-3862 last year as it was an exact size replacement for the old analog one and I didn't have to patch over the mounting holes.
