Residential Refrigerator Replacment

Hello everyone... I am removing my Norcold refrigerator and replacing with a THOMPSON residential unit from Sam's. Any comments on what I might or might not do from those who have done this conversion ?
Thank you,
Dennis

Residential fridge upgrade

We replaced our Norcold n8x with a residential fridge. We love the way it turned out. Best mod

Did replace the PIA Norcold with a 7.3 cu ft Thompson from Sams. Cost was $ 300 plus tax.
Had a little trouble removing Norcold as the insulation on the top of the fridge expanded and had to chop it up with a long bladed knife. Even though the THOMPSON was supposed to be less cubic feet it turned out I have more room. I do have space of about 2 inches on either side, about 12 inches in the back and 6 inches up top. THOMPSON recommends 5 inches on each side and rear.
It holds a constant temperature and very satisfied with the conversion.

Changing to residential, did you install a converter to give power when not plugged into electricity?

Ron...Did not install a converter.. Usually power outages dont last too long and have a full house generator to handle things. My only travel is not too far..just enough to get to a safe place dodging hurricanes.

How long does it take this unit to cool? Based on the pic it looks like we may have a similar RV. We are looking into replacing ours with a residential fridge. We have a 27U.

The unit takes 2-3 hours to cool down for use. It took a few days of adjustment to get the fridge at my desired temp. Now it holds perfect temp.
