Right lane driving
We made a few road trips towing the camper. And the highways we are suppose to stay in the right lane. So why are they in such bad condition and towing the camper it is really bad. This last trip I drove in the left lane some didn't care. I thought the road was gonna shake everything apart and the bumps on a highway ,wow. If they want us to use that lane they to repair them its crazy all over

It's because the majority of traffic is in the right lane so that lane gets the most abuse. We also complain about our highway taxes, so governments are reluctant to raise them to keep pace with the cost of performing the work needed to maintain highways and roads.

The most damage is 80,000lbs or more on 18 wheels who mostly run the right lane. Nothing worse on the roads but we need what they haul and they pay dearly in taxes to run the highways in EVERY state they run. Come south and see what heat and weight does to our roads. Want really bad Louisiana, heat, weight and swamp lands

x2 on the r lane damage from big rigs. Not only do they use that lane 95% of the time, but they tend to track in the same line truck after truck after truck. Your TT likely doesn't have the same wheel base so you might find yourself surfing the hump between the 2 track lines. Some interstates are so bad that you have to either slow way down in the right lane or kick up the speed and risk the rath of others by towing in the left lane.

They track in the same line to stay centered in their lane not crossing to the shoulder or into the left lane.

Well, part of the reason is that a substantial percentage of the federal highway taxes end up as pork in the funding bills, e.g. $3 million for the National Packard Museum.

Try going through the Cross Bronx(95) and Rt 80. There were some ruts in that road that when looking from the opposite side of road it looked like you were riding on your rims before they tore it up and started to repave it.
What's even worse is the heaving we get in the winter here. Last year was probably the worst I have seen the road conditions here in the NE. Like a washboard in some areas and pot holes that had their own zip code.
I would not tow in those conditions as I think my trailer would shake apart.

The GW bridge has to be the worst in the country, holes that would eat a VW.

We complain about our gas/highway taxes in California, but they keep rising regardless of that fact. What's more, they keep diverting these funds away from infrastructure and into pet that have nothing to do with roads.

Raise the taxes to spend money we don't have on special interests that only serve very small percentages of the population.
