Roof Cleaner

In thinking annual cleanup and winterizing, what would be best to clean and condition the roof on a Jayco 16XRB??

I looked at this kit on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...KIKX0DER&psc=1

But is the Jaycon really a rubber roof, or something else?

Thanks!

I, along with many other owners on this forum, have used simply some warm water and a splash of Dawn dish soap with a hand brush. It is gentle but very effective. The rubber roof doesn't need to be conditioned, just cleaned.

Dealers and service centers sure want to sell you on some kind of conditioning package.

Right you are, my friend. Absolutely they do. They will also want to sell you a trailer that would grossly overload your truck and put your safety at risk, just for that sweet commission. This forum is a consumer's best resource before going into a trailer purchase, especially from someone/someplace that's only interested in your wallet.

Find out exactly what roof you have (EPDM, TPO, PVC, fiberglass) and who manufactured it, then go to their specific site to determine the best care and feeding of your roof.

My trailer had an Alpha TPO roof on it. Their instructions said to wash periodically with a mild detergent (Murphy's Oil Soap was specifically recommended) and that no other treatment was necessary.

Most dealerships would try to sell ice to Eskimos all day long and tell them it was gold.

I use simple green or car wash soap. Good enough. Inspect the lap sealant for cracks while your up there. That’s important and required roof maintenance.
