Question roof replacement

Well just got home from the Caribbean, looking forward to a New season of camping. The bad news... I had take my travel trailer to the dealer to look over the soft spots in the roof that seemed to worsen over winter... Long story short I need a new roof, I am going up this week to talk to them to see if it can be saved or not. Question.... when is it time to say no ? I have :
2004 Jayco 23b, we purchased it 2 years ago for 6k, had my pop up sold for 3200 that went to pay down the loan, I invested $800 first year.. tires, new alarms, hitch etc. They are estimating 4500 to replace. What to do The rest of the camper is in Mint condition, I do not believe the roof was bad when we bought it. Developed a leak around the air conditioner, waited until late summer last season to replace the gasket seal, it may have been too late.

You need to do a cost benefit analysis.

What is the trailer worth now, street price, not trade in.

Cost to repair.

Street value after repair.

If the value before repair plus the cost to repair exceeds the value after repair then the result is obvious.

To add computation, consider trade in value before and after repair.

Also, get a second price on roof repair. Their may be cheaper prices.

If you are vary handy and willing to learn as you work, think about doing it yourself.. good luck!

A roof leak and damage to our KZ Jag is the reason we have a Jayco.

I do not recall the amount it would take to repair the roof but I do recall the trailer would not increase in in value what it would cost to do the repair.

Trade in might be a better option, IMHO.

Those htt's from that era had issues due to the flat roof. Depending on how bad it is. Around the ac, was known to sag, and collect water.

If it was me, I would also compare the price of a sprayed on roof. A few manufacturers make it. It is very simular to a sprayed in bed line. A co worker did it. He loves it.

But how much damage is there? That is the hard part to know until you dig into it.

If there is no signs of water inside. I would consider rebuilding it. But I would not have the dealer do it.

I am sure there are more, but RV-Armor and Rhino Linings are two I have heard of. A coworker, used Rhino Linear on his roof.
