Rotella T5 compared to Motorcraft Superduty Diesel

If anyone has used these two brands of oil and would like to impart any facts and experiences regarding the two brands it would be appreciated.

I know there are many folks who are "brand loyal" and I can understand your position. However I am looking more for the good, the bad and the ugly based on facts and experience between these two brands.

For reference I have a 2015 F250, 6.7L Diesel

Thanks in advance for any inputs.

I have only used Motorcraft oil in my 2016 6.7, and am not familiar with Rotella T5, but just be careful as Ford is NOT recommending the use of the new Diesel oil standard CK-5. Here is a link to what Ford is recommending. Ford's New Oil Spec For Power Stroke Diesels | Ford Authority

I just purchased a 2006 F250 diesel I would also like to know. My local oil change shop uses Pennzoil for gasoline engines I don't know what they use for diesels.

I have my oil changed at the dealer in my 2011 6.7, so it always gets motorcraft- but I run Rotella-T in all my other fleet diesels (Cummins, Cats and Duramax) and swear by it.

When my truck was new, I used Rotella-T and changed it and the oil filter (Ford filter, BTW) every 5,000mi. That worked well when I was racking up roughly 100,000mi a year. Every other month my oil was tested by Blackstone and showed no problems.

After ~3 years and about 270,000mi, my driving dropped off. Then I began having injector 'stiction' issues.

Long story short... no more stiction and I've settled on Rotella-T6 and change the oil and filter every 6 months (sometimes the miles hit 7,500).

It now has ~340,000mi and is running great. (fingers crossed)

Ford recommends a diesel compatible 10W-30 for normal use in the 6.7L. I have been running Rotella T-5 heavy duty diesel 10W-30 semi-synthetic for 5 years now. I change the oil/filter every 4000 miles which for me is usually twice a year as the truck is not my daily driver. My truck is a '12 with 56K to date. Wallyworld now sells the Motorcraft 10W-30 for diesel engines but for the longest time the Rotella T-5 was the only option out there in a 10W-30 unless you went to the dealership.

One word AMSOIL I have an 08 F250 Diesel and have 24000 miles on it. Most high way to Florida and the rest it gets used for towing my camper. Change the oil every 5000 miles. Even though the oil says one year or 10000 miles. AMSOil is great oil

I used Rotella T6 5w40 for a few years. I recently switched to Delo 400LE.

Any diesel oil, if it meets Ford's specs, will be fine. Rotella is probably the most popular oil used and for reason....it's proven record. I used T6 5w-40 in my Ram for 145,000 miles, changed every 6000 miles. No problems.
