Running lights came on for no reason

Hello all, I have a weird one here, my running lights came on after owning the unit about 2 months, it's a 2018 38bhds. Jayco told me to get the trailer to a dealer (yeah right) my dealer told me to call Jayco. Now I have a repair form letter in so there's a paper trail. Anyone ever have this issue?
I've blown out the plug but besides pulling a fuse I m lost.

Welcome to the forum.

Is this all the time, even when not connected to your tow vehicle?

I would open the connector and look for a stray wire or something else touching the 2 pins on either side of the "key". Take a look at the center image here...

Hello, Yes, they're on all the time. The only way to turn them off is to pull the fuse which also knocks out some internal lights.

Check the junction box where the 7 wire cable attaches to the trailer. Very possible a wire nut or 2 came off and some wires have come together.

It sounds like somewhere your 12V battery charge wire is touching your running lights wire. About the only place that's likely to happen is at the connector, or in the junction box, as stated above, or there could be a spot somewhere in the pigtail between the connector and the junction box where the wires are touching. This can happen if the cable has been pinched or drug on the ground during towing. Chances are most likely that its one end or the other if you cant see any damage to the cable itself.
