Schwintek slide stopped working

Extended the kitchen slide on our Whitehawk 30dsre last week in the driveway. Went to slide back in and only one of the two motors was working. Pulled panel and indicator light codes said one motor power lines was interupted. Traced wire from module all the way to motor and found adapter plug became unplugged after slide was fully extended. Easy fix.

Problem is if slide is all the way in I would never be able to access the panel as it butts up against the kitchen island. Got me thinking that I need to spend some time locating the control module for my other slide and be prepared for any future challenges.

My advice - everybody should take time to locate their Schwintek control modules and figure out how to access them them for when you need to override the system.

My BIL ran into a similar problem with his Schwintek slide last year, we ended up going to the manufacture's web site and downloaded a manual which had detailed instructions on how to deal with the motors.

From looking at the schwintek videos on line, if you unplug each motor from the control unit, the motors are free wheeling, should be able to push slide out. They show that the slide can be pushed in which would indicate to me that the slide can be pushed out. Am picking up my unit with a schwintek slide this week so have not tried this am only speculating from on line video.

If they trulybecome freewheeling that would be helpful to know. Please post the results if you do test yours out.

Does anyone have pictures of these motors or sites we can look at to see them? Would like to be ahead of the curve on this.

These videos are very informative. It looks like you have to physically disengage the motor to be able to move the slide manually.

Stated on the Schwintek site that when the motors are disconnected from the control module the slide can manually be pushed out or pushed in. They also indicated that the motor needs to be reconnected to the control module to apply braking to the slide so it does not move on its own. If you do not reconnect the slide motors make sure you block the top of the slide with a 2x4 or equivalent so it does not open in transit.

That is some good information for me as we have Schwintek slides on our trailer.
