Securing Rocker Chairs for Travel

We just picked up a new 27RLS last week and included with the chairs in the back was a partial cover for one and a strap. Now I have heard that some people stow the chairs back to back on either side of the small side table and use the cover on one back to prevent the chairs from rubbing and then secure the chairs together with the strap. I tried this and it doesn't work, in this position the widest part of the chair on the drivers slide is in the way of the slide. The only way to stow that chair is to turn it around so the back narrow part of the chair clears the slide. Thats fine because the slide holds it in position, but what do I do with the other one to keep it from bouncing around and rubbing on the table/walls? Any 26RLS or 27RLS owners out there that can enlighten me?

On our rig, we figured out the best way after a few trips.

I just turn my rocker recliners to where they are facing each other, and then push them together. I put the end table on top of the couch.

Thanks for the link, sounds like there is no standard way to stow them.

I took a piece of hollow " foam noodle " and sliced it open, and use it to run around the edge of the little table to protect the backs of the chairs while they are turned sideways. Helps prevent rubbing damage to both table and chairs while in transit

My wife makes quilts so we have quilts everywhere and for every purpose. We throw a quilt over each rocker and that's it.

Excellent idea! I have a couple of pool noodles and some foam pipe insulation around here so I'll try that out.

Just got our 27RLS chairs sit in front of back door back to back strapped. Won't fit along side of the fixed table.

According to our dealer setting them back to back by the door and using the strap and chair cover is the best way they have them stored for travel. He recommends putting something under the chairs while move them so as to not hurt the flooring. We tried it that way when we left, a little cumbersome trying to step over them to get to control panel, but seems to work well. Only time will tell.

I have a 2012 29 RLDS, I turn them so the backs are aginst the small middle table and use a bungee cord around both to hold them together and then run the slide in and put a pillow between the chair and the slide.

My friends Dutchman with the rear lounge come with straps and hooks to secure the chairs in place,

Jayco must have listened, ours has a floor hook beneath each rocker with a strap.

We have floor hooks also, but don't use them. Don't tie down dinning room chairs either; thou we only take two with us.

In the interest of full disclosure we don't have either chair in the rear that came with the trailer. Street side is either empty or has dog crate. Curb side has a recliner with a separate leg/foot rest. Don't tie either down and have not had a problem.

We don't travel on really bad roads, mostly secondary roads or the interstate if necessary.

First of all, thank goodness Jayco engineered the 27RLS TT differently than my 26RLS TT by eliminating the U shaped table and giving more room at the rear to store that chair in place . Sounds like you have a solution now with one of the other folks recommending using part of a noodle to protect each side of the table. I don't have that option in mine as there is not enough room to store the offending chair in place even turning it sideways in my rig. Both chairs have to be back to back at the main door thus blocking that door during travel. Beyond that as I have said before.. absolutely love my rig.
