seek opinion on awning

So whats your opinion about the Solara power awning on the jayflight ? All I know is the Dometic that I have on my Whitehawk and I wonder if the Solara is a improvement or not....

I do not like their pitch adjustment system. It depends on friction and when a breeze comes up it "un-pitches" the awning. Drives me crazy. I now use shock cords to help hold it down in a pitched position. I liked the Carefree awning on my old trailer much better. It had spring loaded buttons to push to adjust the pitch, and was very secure in holding it pitched position. Otherwise the awning works just fine. I would consider the Solara a downgrade compared to the Carefree or Dometec, but you get what you get.

Have the Solara awning with the speakers in the arms, works ok, provides shade, and easy to adjust the pitch by just pulling on the arm(s). The pitch on ours doesn't move with the wind, but we don't leave ours out in strong winds either.

There are some connecting bolts between the different arms, could adjust the tension on those I suppose. One of my arms moves easily while the other is stiffer.

There's a large anti-Carefree contingent present on JOF because it's weak and does not reliably self-dump.

I agree with an earlier reply, the Carefree awning is much better. I like how it locks it place, and rolls up tighter ...... this Solara awning wrinkles as it rolls up.
