Oh no.....should I be worried about him sleeping down there now? I unplugged it and will bring it out to the garage tomorrow it is so heavy. I didn't think you were supposed to leave it in a garage because it could freeze. Now I am even more confused......

Put it on a block of wood to keep it off the concrete. Or put it on a table or something like that.
It won't freeze, a charged battery doesn't freeze. If that were the case then you would have a frozen battery in your car daily during the winter.
Charge it... Then take the charger off. Check the voltage occasionally.
Hopefully you have that voltmeter of yours figured out by now.
If your reading over 15.5 volts on your battery while it is charging, something isn't right.
I don't think a smart charger would even put out over 15.5 volts while in a desulfation mode.

Check what the voltage is on the battery without the charger and report back.

No it wont put off gasses when not charging and even with a trickle charge it wont put off as many but I would move it to a better ventilated area when you can

Here's a little light reading for you to learn a little about 3 stage chargers.

If you look back at the pic I posted of my big charger I have 3 choices.....engine start, boost, or charge/maintain. When i put it in the garage tomorrow should I put it on Engine start for a while?

nope I would only go trickle charge. It saves the battery charging it slow

Use your charger in the second picture and set it for 2amps.
The first charger pictured is going to bulk charge at 6amps first and then cut back to 2a
Neither of those is a 3 way smart charger.
Your TT has a 3 or 4 way smart charger.

most of the tt have a white wire to negative and red and or black wires going to positive on battery. I tie all my positives together so I keep it straight but the positive wires normally also have an inline fuse in them but to be safe the negative wire is usually just one and should be attatched to the frame
