Sewer Hose Storage - PVC Fence Post - Mounting Suggestions

I know this is a very common mod, but I couldn't find the right hardware to actually clamp the post to my bumper. Instead, I bought some heavydutyish brackets and am thinking of bolting it to the bumper.

Am I going to harm anything by drilling into the rear bumper?

Any alternative recommendations for the mounting or even the location of the mounting?

I've seen people just use stainless hose clamps. Cheap and simple.

You should be fine drilling into the bumper.

I use two fence posts under our rig, one for the sewer hose, the other to store a 6' collapsible ladder. I mounted them using a piece of flat stock and 7" stainless bolts. I also had to use a spacer (scrap Azec that I had) between the frame and the fence post so I would clear the propane line. It's probably overkill, but I know it's not going anywhere. I'll try to get a couple of pictures later today.

I used the 6 in plastic fence post cover with end caps. Just got a threaded rod, cut it to the proper length and bent it horse shoe shaped. Actually 90 degree bends to cradle the fence post cover. Cut them to size to drill holes through the frame underneath the rig and bolted it in place. It is not going anywhere.

I attached mine on both sides with a thick piece of aluminum, bent to the shape of the square cover and attached with self tapping screws.

Mine mounted under the rig behind the rear tires.

I wrapped a long SS hose clamp around the whole thing just in case!

I mounted my 5" fence post on top 2 pieces of 1"x 2" pine to the top the rear bumper. I manufactured my brackets out of some scrap HDPE 1" schedule 40 conduit. I cut the conduit into 6" pieces and drilled a hole near each end to fit a 1/2" machine bolt that fits around the bumper tube and the fence post and through a second conduit at the top. The wood spacers kept the fence post from interferring with the spare tire bracket. It fits well and is very solid. I'll have to take some photos the next time I am with the camper. ....... Swampy

I used the fence post, but just drilled clearance holes on top side of post. Then I used my drill gun through clearance holes to put self tapping screws through bottom of post and into bumper. Seems plenty sturdy and a nice clean look.

I may be missing something and sorry if I am but I just looked up your unit on YouTube. It appears to me that your rear bumper has storage for the sewer hose. All you need to do is purchase end caps. Will be embarrassing if I am wrong, but had to at least mention this. I have a 2017 23MRB and the sewer hose does store in the rear bumper.

Many folks don't like to store sewer hose in the bumper. I don't do it because there is some surface rust inside the bumper and my hose gets caught on some of the rough spots. Others say it causes pinholes in their hose. I switched to a fence post as there is more room with the extra inch of diameter.

And I have the rhino hose, that won't fit in the rear bumper. I just store my hose in a clear low-profile rubbermaid type container.

I hang my PVC hose storage on the I-beam frame of trailer with L-bracket and spring to put tension on. I can quickly take it off trailer and use it as my hose support.

I used a couple long u-bolts, thread adapter, couple bolts, and a metal strap. I cut two small pieces of 2 x 4 (painted black) to act as a spacer between the PVC and steel bumper.

The u-bolt thread length wasn't long enough thus the thread adapter and bolted from the 'bottom-up" into the thread adapter. I also had to 'open' (bend) the u-bolt a little to accommodate the PVC width....., couldn't find a u-bolt the same width of the PVC.

The two wood blocks were placed at the u-bolt mounting locations.

Pic shows PVC housing attached to my retired '05' Eagle...., just last week I transferred the whole assembly over to my new 2018 Jay Flight bumper.

I mounted mine on top of my rear bumper. I placed two pcs of 3/4" wood under both ends (same width as bumper). This raised it above a couple u-bolts that were on the bumper. I then zip tied them to the bumper with white heavy zip ties. They have stayed that way for over 5,000 miles without coming loose. I keep my sewer hose in it since the bottom bumper is too small. (why don't the makers of these TT wise up and put bigger bumpers on). I placed a screw thru two sides of the cap on one end, split the short edges of the cap I wanted to remove ea. time (this made it easier to pull off) and then drilled a 1/4" thru the top down thru the bottom lip. I just drop a 1/4" 6-1/2" bolt thru the top to keep the cap on. It's never come out while traveling. The original bumper I keep a long handle for my push broom and keep the brush head in storage.
