Shakedown results

Well we had a great weekend at a state park for our shakedown with our new jayco. We love the camper and all of the amenities. Truck pulled it very well.

We uncovered a few, mostly minor issues, and one concerning one. I will be calling the dealer tomorrow to schedule a time to get it looked at.

1. Front cap led lights don't turn on
2. Hot water tank drips. There was a puddle outside of the camper.
3. The trailer has 2 grey tanks but even after using both kitchen and bathroom sinks, and the shower, only one tank had water when we emptied.
4. Black tank flush leaked all over under the bathroom sink. Luckily I had my girlfriend go in to watch for leaks before using it for the first time...

I notice a trend here with water issues. Hopefully none of them are too serious. .

Did they show you the switch for front cap lights? They look like you would push on the light itself but there is a switch down right side next to propane tank cover on underside.

I'd make sure the drain plug is tight in water heater.

Can you eleaborate on black flush leak? What leaked? the pipe? a fitting? where the hose goes into the floor? Our first trip the sink screw connections were loose and had to reach in an tighten them up.

We have the 318RETS so am interested in your findings.

The front lights turned out to be operator error.

The hot water heater was dripping from the brass looking plug at the bottom left when you open the exterior panel.

I couldn't tell exactly where the water was coming from when I ran the black flush. I just turned it off as soon as my girlfriend started yelling from inside, lol. There was water all over underneath the bathroom sink, it looked like one of the pipe fittings down there may have been loose.

I didn't have another trip planned until next month so figured I'd just take it to the dealer and let them handle it. I will let you know what they say.

Also, on the other gray tank not filling, they suspect it is only there for a washing machine, but are calling Jayco to confirm.

My black tank flush also leaked the first time I used it. It was the vacuum breaker/
back flow valve under the sink. The fittings were loose and just tightened up by hand. And yes the 2nd grey tank is for the washer/dryer hookup located in the bedroom closet with the louvered doors.

Here's a link to a discussion about backflow preventers/vacuum breaker leaks. It's an old thread but still good info. I've seen other threads on the subject on other forums too.

Heads Up!!! On Vacuum Breaker Check Valves - Outback RV Owners Forum

Hot water tank drips can be caused by the expansion of water in the system as the tank heats up. Usually stops once the tank is hot and you run some hot water to release the pressure. But I'd sure check it out to find out what is causing the drip.
