Shelf beside bed....

When I knock on it it sounds hollow. Has anybody cut into theirs? It would make another good storage spot.
I would like to cut a door into it.

Not positive, but I think your pass through outside storage may be there.

That is likely hollow and SL is correct, the pass through storage is right below / behind that. It would be helpful to know what year and model camper you have- It will likely get you a much more specific answer.

Pass through is below it and sealed up. This is above and makes me believe it's hollow.

I suspect it is an illusion from the inside that the pass-thru is below it. If you follow the floor level from the open entry door to the pass thru from outside, you will see that the floor level is about half the height of the pass-thru. It is common with many RV's that the entire pass-thru occupies the head of the bed. Perhaps if you have someone to help, one person can knock on the area like knocking on a door and another person listen for it from the pass-thru area. ~CA

Pull back the mattress slightly and look into the opening with a flashlight. It's the pass-thru. Plain and simple. Not hard to figure out.

Yes, it's a good storage spot. Put a door there and you can reach into the pass-thru without having to go outside.

On my 195RB the pass through door is under the shelf. As that are felt cold in cold weather I put a rug on the metal edge and looked up and saw it. You might fit a small drawer in that area but I got 1 inch foam and lined the whole area to keep the cold out.

A cheap scope and a 1/4" hole will solve the mystery. It would be more expensive to build a hollow box there than just make it part of the pass through.

On our old 2019 248RSBW those shelfs were built on top of the cargo pass thru.
There was not much support on the tops so I added more.

I like this idea! And yeah thanks to the comments given here, I think it does have some of the pass through in it. I will do some further investigating.
Thanks all!!

The bed base is next to the "shelf", It does not seal the cavity. Pick up the mattress a few inches and you can look right in. Or, open the pass thru and look up. No need for holes or cameras.
