Shore power / inverter problem

Question for those who know!
I have a full size refrigerator (AC) that is supposed to run on the inverter when shore power is lost... If I open the shore power line it does "kick in" to run the refrigerator..

But the question I have is if I open the battery disconnect with shore power still connected , should the refrigerator still work? (off AC)

When I open the battery disconnect the entire RV goes out! (Even if still connected to AC shore power)

Don't think this is right but want to hear from the people who know!
Thanks

Are you running a converter for your fridge? It's my understanding the batteries supply power to the inverter.

And when you operate the battery disconnect, the inverter won't be powered.

But should "fail" to shore power? If my batteries got dead I loose everything?

I'm not sure, but I would want to know that. I don't understand the scenario of ac available but turned off and battery disconnect operated.

I would be more concerned if the power was on and it failed would the invert-er be powered from the batteries if the batteries were not disconnected.

Ac available and connected and on, but if you disconnect the batteries everything goes out.. Don't think that is right.?...

Would think everything should be able to run on ac without the batteries.

I believe the inverter is powered by 12v so that when you dry camp you can use your 120v fridge. If you lose 12v you lose the inverter functions. You have to have 12v to operate the inverter it will then transfer to shore power if connected. There is no direct by pass .
