Short in Radio

I have a 2017 Jayco 212QBW. The radio speakers seem to have a short somewhere. I can turn the radio on and sometimes it will have sound, but usually not until I start moving the awning. Once the awning is extended out an inch, the speakers come on. It has two speakers in the awning, and two inside the trailer. Any ideas of where the short might be or where I should start trouble shooting?

Thanks,

Welcome from Northern California! I’m not the sharpest on radio systems but here is were I would start. If the radio is powering up but no sound I would check the speaker pigtail at the back of the radio. If the radio is not powering up until you move the awning I would check the the main power pigtail at the back of the radio also make sure you have a GOOD GROUND. In my experience a bad ground ( loose or corroded) is one of the main problems with the 12 volt systems. Good luck, electrical problem’s can be a pain in the butt.

Thank you. That sounds like an easier place to start than trying to find the speaker wires in the awning.

It's probably at the speaker in the awning .... mine did the same thing, i'd get on the ladder, move the wires around and the speaker would go on. The person that came up with the speaker in the awning idea should be slapped!
