YES even though you dont ride in the trailer it will take a heck of a lot less beating if the tires are balanced.

The tires themselves will last longer. Sometimes, a tire can be seriously out of balance. On a trailer you'd not know it unless you do balance it.

Are the tires balanced when they come from the factory? I replaced the 4 tires on my last trailer and did not see any weight balances on them when they came off. Also, one tire dealer told to balance them and 2 others said they didn't need to.

I`ve wondered that myself as I have never seen weights on any of the boat or travel trailer tires I have owned over the years. It only seems right that they would perform better if balanced and the trailer would get a smoother ride.

I think the larger the tire, the more of an issue it will be. Your 13" tire is on the small side, compared to a 15" tire on a larger TT. I do think balancing is worth the effort for a 15" tire on a 5000 lb plus trailer, but many on the road are not balanced. Also, to balance a 13" tire, the required weight shim may very well be under the half-ounce minimum size of those shims.

Have them balanced. I balanced the 13" tires on our old pop-up, and the 15" tires on our TT are also balanced. A tire that is not balanced will develop a choppy wear pattern and could shorten the life of the tire.

I am a lot more concerned about excess vibration than I am tire wear. Even out of balance I can't imagine a tire will wear out in the 4-5 years maximum that I will keep them in service.

YES - always balance all high speed tires - regardless of their size.

As you can see some people are adamant about balancing and some are not. I would guess that most trailer tires are not balanced.

I have a freind who works at a Harley dealer and yes...they balance their tires too. Can you imagine trying to hang onto handlebars that are vibrating at 70 mph? Yes, all high speed tires should be balanced.

What? You never balanced motorcycle tires???? Especially on street bikes???

See Step 5 within: http://www.ehow.com/how_4424178_bala...cle-tires.html

Seriously... Balance tires to:
- reduce vibrations.
- reduce tire wear.
- reduce bearing wear.
- obtain better MPGs.
- retuce risk of tire blow out.
- obtain better road contact.

Sounds like many positive reasons to balance motorcycle tires as well...

Yes, it makes sense.
I made the comment to widen the thought process.
It seems some people don't worry or think about vibration in the trailer, and with this and other threads on the topic, has me wondering if Jayco does tire balancing at their factory? From other comments here, it seems the dealers themselves have mixed views on balancing. For myself, I would very much prefer to have our 22FB trailer tires balanced. I also know that for our pop-up trailer, the 13" tires were never balanced, by the dealer or us, and we put on probably 20,000 miles without incident.

Anything you can do to prevent shaking inside the trailer and therefore extend its life has to be a good thing.

I have sent a question by e-mail to the Jayco factory, asking if they balance the tires during the assembly process. If they reply, I will post their answer here.

ok...seems to be balance=yes...

So how do you do it? Do you remove the tires and carry them in or drag the trailer to a tire shop....not sure I trust any of the tire shops around here to jack up my trailer....
