Side to side leveling

This is my first post to this forum. My wife and I are new to RVing so excuse the ignorance. How do I do side to side leveling on my 23 Whitehawk? The stabilizer jacks are just for stabilization, right?

Correct. The jacks just stabilize the trailer after it’s been leveled. My DW has been on me to buy some leveling blocks but I’m good with using cut sections of 2x8’s and 1x8’s under the tires.

Yes, I carry 2x8 lumber for this purpose as well. Handy to have enough that you can build a pile about 10" high for an emergency no-jack tire change as well.

I like Andersen levelers. I carry some boards also just in case but the Andersens are great

Side to side leveling

Lots of options. I use leveling blocks. You pull on to them before unhooking from your tow vehicle.

I carried lumber for awhile, but the lynx blocks make for a lighter and tighter package to store/travel with.

Lots of choices out there from lumber to pre-made devices. Here's what I use.

Curved Leveler and Wheel Chock

Happy camping!

Check out the Camco levellers i use in the product review section. I was amazed how great they work, and easy to use! No longer a need to carry 2x6's

Camco levelers/chocks

I concur with Pawpaw and Jacojay on the Camco levelers.

I also use the 1 x 8's and 2 x 8's. Just check level when you park and either back up or pull forward to get your left to right balance. Then chock and unhook and level front to back. I keep a 2 ft level handy for just such on each trip.
Happy Camping and welcome to the Jayco Owner's Forum.

Those Anderson and Camco curved levelers look great. Seems like they work on the same principle. The Camco unit is a little cheaper it seems, any real differences in function?

I often park on gravel, would leaving the weight of the trailer on sharp rocks damage the plastic at all? I have done a lot of messing around with lumber. If these save me a couple of minutes, that's more time I could be drinking beer, so it's worthwhile I think.

The camco levellers are shorter, making them fit between the two tires with no problem. I have seen where the Anderson have had to be cut to make them fit. I have been on a site with stone, and had no issues .... tough plastic. Not sure in US, but in Canada the Anderson are a lot more money.

I bought the yello leveling blocks..CW private label. Then read some conflictig review's and returned them. Reviews claimed that they were prone to collecting rocks and or gravel in the holes and or breaking. The.reviews on the Lynx orange ones were MUCH more favorable. And competitively priced. So I went with that brand. Havent used them as of yet . But sure itend to. I also intend.to invest in a set of the Anderson levelers. I know 2 systems....But ya never know where just where you might end up .

The front of my trailer has a large level mounted where I can see it from the drivers seat. Most camp sites are reasonably level from side to side because they are mostly humped in the middle for drainage. Most of the time I can drive in and find a spot where the trailer is mostly level from side to side and I can see it from the truck and change if necessary. Once it is parked just use the front jack to set the level front to back. I do carry yellow level blocks for the few time I must drive onto them to get what I need. Works for me.

We use the orange stackable blocks. We carry two containers, each of which I think holds 12 plates.
Recently, we learned that trying to level our RV from side to side instead of from front to back is easier, uses fewer blocks, and seldom if ever requires using a shovel to create holes for the blocks.............

What I like the most about using the Andersen levellers is that they work well with the BAL X-chocks. There's only been a few times where the leveller didn't lift the trailer up enough to level it, or where it stuck out too far and got in the way of the X-chock. In those cases, the bin full of 2x8 pieces that I still carry around comes in handy.

I've used wood and blocks of various types and sizes. Once I discovered Anderson I got rid of all the other stuff and use just them. They make side-to-side leveling quick, easy and secure. Just make sure they will fit between your wheels.

Watch this video and you won't want any other kind of side to side leveler. If you are worried about slippage on a smooth surface you can add skateboard non-skid tape to them.
