Size matters

I decided on buying a Honda generator but can't decide on the size. I will never use the AC here in the Adirondacks only lights, TV, possibly the microwave. Should I buy the 1000 or 2000 watt model. They both claim to be the same DB loudness but one is about 15 pounds heavier.
Thanks in advance.

I have and would recommend the 2000i over the smaller 1k unit. The smaller one will get bogged down easily with the regular load and the 2k will run most everything except the ac with a little power conservation.

EX. don't run the mw and coffee pot at the same time. Hide the hair dryers!

Thanks Norty1. Any ideas how both units can be the same sound level? Noise, where we camp, is particularly important and the reason I decided on the Honda.

2000 all the way. The 1000 won't run your coffee pot or your microwave. The 2000 will run either, one at a time.

I would suggest the 2000 also. Like others mentioned, just be carefull with MV and hair dryers. Can always try it out, and add another in the future and connect together; I have both. I understand about the AC there, as I have a cabin on Tug Hill, and never needed AC in the summer, actually always need a little fire in the stove at night throughout the summer!

I have the eu3000is. Its a whole lot heavier than the 2000. I basicly have it permanent on the tongue. I would definitely say get the 2000. And if you find the need for more power ,you can parallel another one. It doesnt even need to be the same size. Then you have some power if one fails. Which I highly doubt.

You might want to check out the Champion on the following thread. It is on sale until tomorrow and will run everything you have. I posted on the link that I personally tested this against my Honda 2000i and they are extremely similar for sound. Only downfall is the weight of the Champion. I have listed my Honda on Craigslist and have already made the order for the Champion.

I have no idea but it is their statistics so I can't suspect them. I crank mine monthly and use it to power a electric weed eater. I pull it around in a wagon. I have forgot it was running on several occasions it is so quiet.

Will a 2000 run a 8000 watt AC?

Jim maybe someone on here that has a 2,000 watt can answer your question .i have a Yamaha 2400is that I experimented with and could get a 15k btu unit to run at an elevation of about 950 ft above sea level.and it was struggling ! Once it started it was fine . Most items that have motors takes double the wattage to start. A 2400 might be a better choice for power and still keep the weight down.for a 8k btu unitThe 3k is great just way too heavy for an old guy like me. Maybe someone on here that has a 2k on here can help.

I researched this last year and never found a good answer. Then ended up buying a Yami 2800. Though its not too big to handle I would like a 2000 if it would work.

When testing out the system I was able to have all the lights on and run the AC, MW and furnace all at the same time without even hearing a flicker from the generator.
