Skid Wheels??

I am new here. I have a 2013 Jayco eagle travel trailer 314bds and I am looking to install skid wheels on the back. Has anyone ever done that? Any tips or tricks would be a great help!

Thanks

Welcome to JOF!!!

I have the same year and model you are talking about. I also have the cargo tray under the rear bumper.

I DO NOT have or ever needed skid wheels on my trailer. I am assuming you want to add these because you have a steep driveway.

I may not have answered your question, but I have not needed them in the 7 years we have owned this trailer.

Is this just for your driveway?

Personally I have not installed any. My parent's have a few friends with them.

Two things they have said, don't get the swivle caster style, and make sure the frame is strong enough or have weld plates/brackets installed.

Reason for no swivle casters, is the unpredictability when backing up, the trailer. The trailer, can roll sideways, and you have zero control.

As others have posted, do not install swivel castor style wheels. I had an enclosed inline 4 place snowmobile trailer that had a low deck. I had to weld skid rollers on the back of the frame. Worked great. It kept the back of my trailer frame from bottoming out when pulling into driveways and such.
