slide braces

We have a Jayco TT with a slide and it has two braces to put on top of the slide when traveling. Had a very similar trailer but no braces. Are they needed?

Ours has one for the small front wardrobe slide. It is actually called a slide lock. I was told it was needed as it holds-in and better seals that slide, as there ain't much to it. Just remember to take it off before hitting the button to move the slide out. We put a red sticker above the button, and tied a bright ribbon around the slide lock that noticeably hangs down.

Mine came with one and I use it as the slide mechanism is on the bottom and nothing really holding the top in but the slide lock so it could move around a bit when traveling without the slide lock. Not all slides require them, it depends how they are made. If your unit came with them I would use them. As mikefos said, do not forget they are there when you extend the slide!

Thanks, I figured it was a good idea but they are pretty awkward to install. The ribbon is a good idea.

Yea, I have to get up on the bed to install ours, and twist in unnatural ways to get it down the width of the slide far enough.

Agree with all above. And as the Crabman said, if your unit came with them, recommend you use them. The manufacturer would probably not have included them (additional cost) if they weren't needed. JMHO
