Slide doesn’t work after H2O Heater repair

Hi all, I have a Jayco Eagle travel trailer 295dbok with the hot water heater under the fridge and wondering if anyone else had this happen...

My hot water heater wasn’t working on electric, but worked fine on gas. I verified power going to heating element so thought that was the culprit. After draining hot water heater, I removed the heating element which released a lot more water to my surprise. I thought I mopped up all the water but next day after buying new heating element, I found the Lippert controller for my Schwintek slide was covered in water (don’t know why they would install an electrical component near water). I removed the controller and attempted to dry with a hair dryer on ‘cool’.

Replaced the heating element and now have hot water on electric but my 1 slide that is controlled by the “got wet” controller no longer works. The controller has power but flashing 8 times which according to manual translates to “Hall signal not present - encoder not providing a signal, usually a wiring problem”.

Has anyone had similar experience? I made an appointment at my dealer but hoping someone on JOF might know of a fix for this.

Thanks in advance!

Electronics and water (moister) are enemies, replace the controller. It doesn't take much to destroy a controller board.

You’re right! Dealer diagnosed the controller was bad and although I’m a few months out of warranty, Lippert agreed to replace at no cost which saved me several $$$. I got lucky this time!

Glad to hear.

You obviously have a good dealer who is willing to work for the customer.
