Smile Is Slide out lock assembly needed ???

Good morning,
I just took ownership of a 2007 Jayflight 25RKS it is without a doubt the cleanest ,well kept ,used product I have ever purchased. The former owners were off the chain about how they took care of it.
It came with a slide locking bar that goes in
place inside the cabinet over the sofa slide. They said he used it ever trip. Even a ballon tied to a string to remind them of it being in place before they opened slide each trip.

Is this locking bar required or nessasary please ?. I've never had an issue with a slide opening unless I wanted to open it with my past Sprinter or Rockwood campers.

Thanks

We had one on a prior TT with a small sofa slide. The dealer said that the slide was so light that it could come open while in transit. We used our transit bar all the time.
