Slide out power question?

I have never owned a slide out camper and would like to know if the slides will operate on battery power? We have lots of campgrounds in florida with no electrical hook up and would like to know that i could still boondocks. I have owned 3 different Trailers over the last 10 years and was looking forward to becoming a Jayco owner. Started out with the 154 BH then really liked the 264BHW but the wife saw the 28 BHBE and really liked that. so I think we are leaning that way anybody care to sound off on the 28BHBE? thanks many more questions to come!

Slides are powered by 12 volt batteries. Best to have the TT batteries fully charged when using the slide or maybe have tow vehicle plugged in and engine running if batteries are low.

BTW, two 6 volt golf cart batteries wired together to produce 12 volts have more reserve capacity than two 12 volt batteries.

We love our 28 BHBE, just make sure you have enough truck. We did by the numbers, but in reality my GMC 1500 with 5.3L and tow package just didn't have the fortitude to do it the way I think it should be done. We were just in under the GVWR of the truck (or over sometimes) and I got really tired of always worrying about weight.

Now my Ram 2500 with 6.4L Hemi slings it around without any trouble at all! DW is relieved to hear me say "sure, we can take that" no matter how much it weighs!

Thanks, I am fairly certain I have plenty of truck I have a 2010 F-250 only has the 5.4L engine but the larger payload and the beefy torque shift tranny of the 250 should make for good towing.

Yup, we rarely camp with any services - only been out with it 3 times, but usually we get there, and everything goes out just fine. By the end of the weekend we need the truck hooked up and running to get it to come in. But really it's not a big deal to us.

Though we are considering a generator....

We have an 18 watt solar hooked up to our batteries, and it works fine.
