Slide-out tips up just before stoping

I would like to than everyone for letting me join their forum. It is greatly appreciated.

I have a 2015 Jayco Travel Trailer Model 33RLDS. When I put the slide out by the door, just before it stops, it starts to tip up in the air on the outside end. I notice I am getting some water on the floor by the moulding.

1. Is the slide suppose to tip up before it stops?
2. Because the slide is tipped, could the water be running down the underside of the slide out, and pooling on the floor.
3. What are slide out Skies, and what is their purpose, and are they worth the money.?

Look when the slide moves back in. You should see the top or bottom move first (tilt?). Then the slide will move as a unit. Sometimes when moving in or out the slide will drip water inside. Its the nature of the beast. Not familiar with the term "Skies". If you mean slider awnings then yes, it is worth having them.

And welcome to the forum..

Welcome too JOF

Yes, sounds like you are referring to a through-frame style slide and they do rise a little. Here are a couple JOF threads on the same subject:

https://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f...gap-52901.html

https://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f...oor-60953.html

The slide 'once' fully retracted, and/or extended shouldn't allow moisture intrusion. I would confirm that all the slide seals are functioning properly (no gaps, etc.), and that the slide adjustment allows for a uniform placement once retracted/extended. With the slide fully extended, confirm that the horizontal wiper seal doesn't have any gaps above the slide roof surface.

I place a couple trimmed 'pool noodles' between my slide floor and the main floor once my slide is fully retracted. This provides a little support under the raised slide floor in the event I step on the side floor.

Bob, did you mean to say “side floor” or did you mean “slide floor”. I know there are weak spots to watch out for and I am trying to learn about these slides. Also, do you have a pic of the slide noodles in place?

skids,

Placed between the slide floor and main floor (under slide floor and top of main floor).

I don't attempt to raise the slide floor when placing them...., just a little snug. This was my original placement.....:

I found that depending on road conditions the noodles can work loose in the above position...., so now rather than running the length of the slide floor I trimmed two noodles (like a long door stop) and place them under the slide floor (perpendicular from my original placement, and about 4ft apart).
