Slide outs Support them with stands or not

Heres a question. Does anyone else besides me support the slide outs with stands? I try to make the TT as stable as possible when we set up. I have even added another set of Jacks to the middle by the steps. I have read in a few places that this is a bad idea. What are your thoughts?

Have owned multiple Jayco's since 1998 and have never put any sort of stabilizers under the slides. If I'm not mistaken I believe it mentions not to do so in the owners manual.

Dealer said never do that. They are meant to angle down for drainage and strong enough to support the weight.

Interesting you say "dealer said" My "dealer said" that it is no problem as long as you don't force them up away from the angle. I am just curious Because I see 50% that do and 50 % that don't.

Well if your main jack stands underneath were to sink or fail, (or if you just retracted them without removing the slide jacks) the weight and angle on your slide jacks would certainly do damage.
Just my opinion, no data to back it up.

Agree. I think that is why they recommend NOT to install them. If this situation were to happen, it could tear the slide out of the camper.

I use one only on the bottom step of the TT. Keeps it from rocking like a bassinet. As far as under the slides, I never have. I've also heard it's not a wise thing due to drainage and/or torqueing the slide itself.

When I bought my 24FB in Nov 2015 the dealer said " don't use support under slide".

Well thanks for the comments looks like something I am gonna stop doing. I always hated setting them things up. Worst part of setting up and breaking camp was those things

I never used them with the 2005 pilgrim 290BHSS we had for 10 years. I certainly will not use them on my 35un.

If you're getting some wiggle movement then use some jacks under the frame near the axles. You can mount them like the front and rears, unless you have elec stab jacks. Buy a couple manual jacks and mount them close to the axle and just use a cordless drill to lower and raise them.
Also look into getting some JT Strong Arm type stabilizers. You need them front and rear. BTDT.JT Strong Arm Jack Stabilizer System - Travel Trailer Kit - Stabilizing Jacks - Camping World

Even with JT Strong Arm's, you still get some wiggle - unless you completely jack the trailer off of its wheels! Having a slide out more firmly attached to the ground would seem to introduce bending and torquing into the structure with every wiggle. Whether it is enough to break anything is an open question. But since the system is designed to not need support, it would seem that adding support may introduce more potential for failure that it would prevent.

Personal preference I think and dependent on how they are used. Manufacture doesn't recommend it for the drainage reasons and for reasons of the 'just in case the main stabilizer jack fail' it will cause excessive stress on the slide frame and mechanism. A lot of dealerships will say don't a lot will say its ok.
For myself, I utilize them, but understand, I just snug them up just enough to hold them in place and provide stability when people are in the slide area and weight is significantly shifted into the slide. I have had times when one of the stabilizers under the slide fell over after we (myself, DW and kids) were all in the slide area and we got up and left. This tells me that while we did not feel the weight shift in the TT while we moved about inside, the movement of the TT did occur, and that the stabilizer did provide some additional support. I have never had a run off problem because I have never adjusted the stabilizers so far as to lift the slide.
As a matter of the question of the manufacturer recommendations of not utilizing them, or of not adding additional jacks to the RV. Most manufacturers of automobiles and RV's will also tell you not to change rims, etc., or make any other modifications beyond what they do during assembly.
