Slide Questions - Fuses & Extension

Hi,

I am new to TT's and RV's. We recently bought a brand new Jay Feather X213 with a rear slide out.

The first question I have is when I push the button for the slide out to extend and it is close to all the way extended it blows the 30 amp fuse in the front of the trailer every time. Is this normal?

Second question is somewhat related, but since it blows the fuse every time I can't seem to get it extended quite all the way. Any tips on how to get that fixed?

Thank you!

Congratulations on the new Jay Feather and welcome to the forum.

Sorry, I don't have an answer to your question(s), BUT, it doesn't seem right to me.
Did it work OK when you did your PreDelivery Inspection?
Have you talked to your dealer?

I have a 2016 x213 and mine does not blow when I open up the slide (granted, I have only done it a handful of times as this one is new-to-me).

I did have problems with blowing that fuse with my tongue jack, and my issue was the ground was not good (I verified this by taking my booster cables and connecting a bolt directly on the tongue jack to the battery). I had to re-attach my ground cables to the frame as well as they were not making good connections.

My suggestion would be to check the ground connection to the frame near the battery (mine was in the area of the tongue), and I believe there was another one near where the shore power goes in to the trailer. If those are OK, then take a look where the ground is run to the slide motor (it is really only accessible with the slide fully extended, take a look under the front lip of the slide at the end of the dinette). Trace that wire back and make sure it is nice and solid. Others have had problems with the slide motor not being powerful enough and catching on things, but most of those seem to be older models.

Good luck and Happy Camping!

Paul

It shouldn't blow. Something's wrong. I'm not too sure what it would be though.

The slide out should work on a circuit breaker to cut out when extended or in.
Just look on your panel what is required.

Not normal by a long shot. Get that one diagnosed.

You can install a reset breaker in place of fuse for the tongue jack.
