Slide Room

Odd question. We bought a new 2018 28 BHS in late October. When we first got it the slide room seemed to work flawlessly. When it was fully extended it would make the “pop” noise when it was fully out and again when it was fully in. Now it seems to kinda jerk and squeak a little(not a lot, but enough it doesn’t seem right) and it does not make the “pop” noise when fully in. It has always “pivoted” in/out when first bringing in/out so I assume it is correct. The other thing is the bottom rear end of the slide room has a bigger gap (I can just squeeze a finger between seals) than the front bottom on the outside(I can’t squeeze a finger between seals). The dealer said to lubricate slides with wd40 and I have. I have never had a slide before so I’m not sure what to expect. I am taking it to the dealer next weekend for a few small items I want added and to check slide room.

I can take a video if that would help.

Thank you for any advice!

It sounds like the slide is out of alignment. The gap should be equal.

We had a similar situation with our largest slide, except for us the slide would not come fully in at one corner. Like yours, there was a large gap on one side, but almost no gap on the other side. As the slide came it, it would bind on the side with little gap. Turned out the tongue was jacked up too high. When I lowered the jack, the slide came into alignment better and it closed properly.

Some slides can be manually adjusted, check the manual.

X2

BTW, if you do a search on this forum, WD40 is generally not recommended as a slide lubricant.

Fixed?

I bought camco dry slide lube and sprayed really good. Ran it in and out to work it in and seems way better. Motor doesn’t sound strained and no noise and is smooth. Still having dealer adjust the one end though.

Thanks for the tips!

I also double checked level. I was off very little so adjusted that as well.

There are videos on YouTube describing the Schwinntek re-alignment process. There are also videos regarding lubrication of them. Assuming you are talking about Schwinntek.

Hello,
It is not the Schwinntek type. I’m not sure the name, but it’s the two large square bars with teeth on them under the slide room. I’m hoping the dealer will let me watch how to adjust. Thank goodness on the two year warranty.
