Slide Topper Installation

I am installing a Solera (lippert) 5000 series slide topper on my Jayco White Hawk and have a question or at least seeking some opinions. My trailer does not have the top rail pre-installed or any of the plates so I have to do it. The installation instruction for the slide topper say that the rail needs to be a minimum of 3” to a maximum of 6” above the T-molding on the slide out. Right now there is a drip catch above the slide and it is 1” above the T-molding. I originally thought I could just remove the drip catch and put the rail in the same location but then I would be outside the parameters specified by Lippert. My plan is to put the rail 3” above the drip catch and simply leave the drip catch in place hoping that it won’t interfere with the slide topper. This would put me 4” above the T-molding which is within Lippert’s specifications. Anyone out there had anything similar? What did you do to install your topper?

You can see the drip catch in the photo’s.

The trailer is a 2024 Jayco White Hawk 27RB in case that matter

... have never done that, but what you are doing is common. I would call Lippert (first) and Jayco CS and see if they can provide that information.

Installed

I had to remove the drip cap since the topper pretty much comes up against the side of the trailer. Taking down the drip cap was the longest part of the process. Filled the screw holes with JB weld marine repair and spent a lot of time getting that silicon off plus all the black marks from that drip cap because they didn’t use butyl tape and the metal was right against the trailer. I wish the manufacturers would leave some material for the screws to grab because there is not a whole lot for the brackets to grab. Pretty happy with the way it looks.
