SLX 195RB bathroom
Hi All,
I recently bought a 2018 195RB, and am wondering whether the shower stall corners are waterproof. I would imagine that they are, but feel unsure. Should I be caulking them before I use the shower?

We have not caulked ours and have had no problems (that we are aware of) in 3 years. There was a thread on this once, which I can't find now, that suggested that caulking is a bad idea, as it is more likely to trap moisture inside than keep it out. Not sure about that, but if caulking was needed, then I think you would see a LOT of threads about problems from the lack of it in the manufacturing process.

We have the small tub and shower in ours, and even though it looks like that area should be caulked, it's left that way so, as MontanaRick said, to let any moisture between the surround and wall evaporate out. There's a lip that protrudes upward behind the surround, so water doesn't run back there under normal use.

SLX I think is talking about the corners not the wall tub overlap, I could be wrong. He said shower stall corners.
I still need pics.

Never have.. I would imagine that with road vibration caulk would be ineffective anyway. There is no shower stall. Just the tub surround.

Ok, not familiar with this shower set up...
If it were mine with past experience with leaking showers I'd caulk every seam and screws.
You don't have the walls that need to breathe. I use to use geocel proflex, but have switched to lexel caulk.

We have close to 125,000 road miles on our TT so there have been many a shower in there. You will be fine.
What I would do is change out the shower head to one with a on off switch. Costs about seven bucks on Amazon. The water savings are considerable.

I have bought a Camco shower head, abut am thinking of reading it in for an Oxygenic one. Anyone have experience with one of those?

I bought one for ours cost about $30 at Walmart.
It leaked at one of the connections and had to replace an O-ring.
It works but you could find something for less that does the same thing.
I would also recommend a longer hose if you get one.

It was the Camco. Cheap maybe not what you want but does the job

You are good to go. But do keep an eye on it and every other joint. Mine has a factory line of caulk in the corner (I do not have that trim piece) About two years ago the caulk separated from the wall. No big deal, just needed to be caulked.

I ask about that when I purchased my new 19rd in 2015. The technician said it was overlapped and should not be caulked so it could move freely. Haven’t had any issues

It looks to me that the pictures are of a tub only. Those walls seem to be made out of just luan and regular wallpaper.
I dont think I would use that as a walk in shower.

Got a reply about this question from a Jayco Service tech - "that is perfectly normal, in those units the surround panel was optional. The panel is waterproof, just recommend to wipe or squeegee down the walls after use. No need to add caulking, just inspect and repair any existing if there is any."

I would be very cautious about that. The molding on the vertical corner seam and the paneling looks like just regular paneling, and the wallpaper looks like regular wallpaper that is made to the luan paneling. The optional surround panels where probably an acrylic material for the stand up shower option. To me it looks like you have a bathtub that someone added a standup shower wand to.
