slx fixed windows
I've searched the forums but didnt see this asked before so here goes. Has anyone replaced the fixed window in an slx with an opening window. We have a 242bhs and wish the window over the sink and under the awning opened. Also the small window in the upper bunk. I emailed jayco and got a response along the lines of "we don't recommend structural modifications". I replied that i just wanted to see if there was a stock swap with what they put in the non slx. They didn't respond. Has anyone done this? I checked measurements on a non slx unit on a dealer's lot but wasnt sure if the wall was the same thickness.
Thanks
Bob

I can't say about the wall depth, but if you look on the corner of one of your windows for the brand, if it says CleerVision, here's their website. They're OE supplier to Jayco.

You're right Grumpy. Hehr and Kinro are 2 more brands of RV windows, but I'm not sure if there's a relationship to Jayco with them. The last time I saw Hehr windows, was on our '96 Fleetwood.

I have a 2017 287 SLX and was able to upgrade the upper bunk window from one that was one piece to one that opens. I went through Jayco to get the part numbers but had to use a VIN from a camper with a higher trim level. I used a 28 bhbe from the same year. The dealer has to place the actually order. The window took about 5 weeks to come in and was a quick install. I also ordered the interior trim ring that holds the window in. It had more screw holes than the original. You may want to order some extra screws while placing your order. It was $180 including shipping to the house.

Thanks everyone for the replies so far. I didn't see any manufacturers information on the windows just some DOT safety glass numbers etched on the exterior. Maybe there is something more to decipher from them....
Damammel, did Jayco give you the part numbers directly or did you have to go through the dealer for that? When I spoke with my dealer earlier this summer about this they didn't have any units in stock to compare measurements against but that is changing now so they may be able to give me some better info. Also, how difficult was it to install the window, the corrugated exterior surface makes me a little nervous about doing the install myself. If it was smooth, I wouldn't think twice. Is it sealed with a butyl tape thick enough to conform to the irregular surface?

Jayco parts emailed me the numbers after I supplied the vin. Then I called my local dealer to get a price and order. I went online and looked at 28 BHBE for sale from a dealer to find one that included the vin in the online posting.
It originally has a black gasket around the window. I used 3 layers of butyl tape instead. Lots squeezes out but it sealed great to the aluminum siding of the camper. Just take your time tightening the frame screws. I plan to seal the top with some clear sealant too.

I don't think there's anything special about the windows or the brand of them. Measure the window opening and search online.
