SLX Underbelly

We are close to ordering a SLX 267BHS. One of the options is an enclosed underbelly. Will this provide any thermal protection? If not, what is the purpose? Correct me if am wrong, but I don’t think the glacier package is available on the SLX

Chassis and and anything above the coroplast stays cleaner and is better protected from road debris. Protection from frost is minimal unless it is installed with a blanket of insulation.

My son just bought a wow SLX8 287 BHSW, with the glacier package, it might be a regional option, I would look into that option with the dealer.

I believe the W stands for West, which likely was built in Jayco’s Idaho facility, but I could be wrong, I haven’t had a chance to look at the manufacture data sticker yet.

The W does indicate a Western edition which is geared more for conditions encountered in the western half of the country. If you compare the specs between the 287BHS and the 287BHSW you'll see there are some differences in the weights - empty and GVWR as well as cargo capacity. Other options and editions being offered such as the Baja and/or Rocky Mountain editions are only available for the 287BHSW model. There are also fewer W models offered - 11 vs 15 in this case.

Thanks for the good information. I will check with my dealer. They will call Jayco if they don’t know the answer. I also had a question about getting a low profile A/C unit factory installed and they got the okay from Jayco. My barn door is 133”, and the specs read 132” for the 267BHS. Too close for comfort.

We have a 264BHW Rocky Mountain Edition with the enclosed underbelly. The main reason for this protection is for pipes, wiring, etc under the floor. Although there is some insulation factor, it seem to be negligible. But out here in California, we don't worry too much about snow and frozen pipes.
