Smoke detector goes off, outside vent open and fan on?

Everytime we cook the smoke detector on the ceiling goes off. The outdoor vent is open, and the fan above the stove is running.

Any thoughts, suggestions?

Used to happen on my old (different brand) 20 foot travel trailer all the time. Was a real nuisance and I never found a solution.
We just disconnected it every time we cooked inside. That was somewhat dangerous if only because we frequently forgot to reconnect it before we went to bed.
Sorry I'm not more help, perhaps others have a solution.

ours does the same thing, so we remove the battery before cooking and replace when were are finished cooking so i don't forget prior to bed time. little bit of a PITA.

On the rare occasion that we cook inside I pull the battery out.

It is a common occurance and it is doing it's job. Fortunately we can reach ours from the stairs and it is easy to disable it while cooking and it's hanging down so it is hard to ignore when done.

We had that problem with our old hybrid, and the way I solved it was to move the smoke detector to a different part of the trailer, farther away from the stove. It seemed to solve the problem, but I haven't done it to our Jayco yet. Right now what we do is the same as everyone else: remove the battery, and we put it on the dinette table in front of us so we don't forget to put it back.

Too common a problem. We pull battery and do not always remember to reinstall it. Ours even goes off when DW uses hair spray quite a ways away.

Just move the smoke detector. It's just held in place by two screws.

Don't remove the battery, too dangerous as often we forget to put it back in.

I just take a Ziplock sandwhich bag and cover the smoke detector while cooking. Then when doing the dishes, that reminds me to remove it.

With this being a common occurrence for many, why do you think that manufacturers haven't taken this to heart and simply installed a roof vent in the kitchen area to help with the venting process? I have seen this in a few higher priced RV's but not many. I suspect those that are considered full time RV's would be the ones that might have this "feature".

Seems to me that the excess moisture and heat generated in the kitchen area of any RV would be as much of a concern as say moisture issues in the bathroom?

I have contemplated having this done to ours but I guess it just hasn't become a big enough of a pain/concern to justify the work/cost of doing so.

Or, you can simply replace the smoke detector with one that has a silencing feature. You push a button and the detector won't alarm for 15 minutes.

Better still replace the ionization type smoke detector with a photo electric type. That's what we did and we haven't had an alarm since. Then move your original smoke detector to a location near the bedrooms.

Ours does the same thing - I had a small fan that we used in our tent so I put it in between the sink and the stove when cooking. It helps move the air into the vent and no more alarms.

We use a shower cap. before we cook, place cap over detector.
