Smoking Brakes!

Last Wednesday night we were traveling to our campsite on a two lane road and came to a stop sign.My wife tells me the trailer brakes are smoking.

So I pulled over safely and checked the wheels for heat and I was able to touch them. The 20 year old Tekensha controller had been acting up.

Ended up replacing it at the campground with a Reese controller I bought at a nearby ORiellys.

Going to check the brakes.

I had the opposite issue when my old Reese controller died. It just would not put out enough voltage, to engage the brakes. I replaced it with a Tekensha P3.

I would recommend pulling your wheels inspect the brakes, hubs and new grease (old school manual packing). If those brakes were smoking, good chance you put a lot of heat into the hubs.
