Solar issue

Hi,
We recently had our first dry camping and realized that our pre-installed Go Power Solar didn’t charge our battery. I was checking with the voltmeter the wires behind the Solar charge controller GP-PWM-30-SQ. For the battery connection it seamed fine (same volt like the battery). For the connection to the Solar I only got ~0.6 Volt. I also don’t see any activity on the controller display. Only shows 0.0 A and the current Volt of the battery (was 11.8).
I was briefly checking the cables on the roof - cables and connections look fine. Nothing loose. However, I didn’t check with the voltmeter. Unfortunately, I don’t have any info about the Solar panel as I didn’t get any manual/documents from the dealer. Just assume the 190W Overlander.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Jens

This is a common issue. The problem is poor “panel to trailer” wiring under the roof jack those solar wires go into on the roof. I will try to find the thread and link it.

Had similar problem. Did you try diconnecting panels at roof port and seeing if you have power coming from panel wires?

I had a similar problem in my 2022 Eagle and it turned out that the neutral wire from the solar panels to the charge controller was loose. I would recommend finding your charge controller and checking that all the wires are screwed in tight.

Thanks. All wires are tight at the controller. I was checking on the roof. Installation looks good to me. However, couldn’t check the cables. My ladder is not high enough and I don’t want to risk to fall down. Anyway, will bring it to the dealer to figure it out. My TT is just 4 months old.

Just an aside: dealer installed 2nd panel on my new camper. When I had this problem I found a too long, wrong gauge wire. Whwn I got the correct wire from the dealer I hooked it up EXACTLY as they had: reverse polarity. I guess my point is its nice to know whats really wrong and how to fix it. Learned a lot!
