Solera 18v LCI Awning Functions reversed

Good morning Jayco family. We have a 2021 Jayco Eagle 330rsts and recently our electric Solera LCI 18v awning stopped working. I tried utilizing the manual override with my cordless drill and the awning would not retract.

Long story short I had to hand wind the awning into place and ratchet strap secure it for the 2hr drive home. Once home a took the awning motor/gear assembly apart and found the head pin had snapped. The head pin connects the awning roll to the gear box and electric motor.

I ordered a replacement head pin direct from Lippert and reinstalled it this morning. Now here is the interesting part. I never disconnected the motor from the wiring and just secured it to the awning frame waiting for my part to come in. After installing the new head pin and gear box and motor when I activate the awning controls through JayCommand the functions are now reversed. Retract is extend and extend is retract. How would this happen? Again I never disconnected the wiring so polarity is not reversed and the gear and motor can only mount one way??

Any ideas?

Thanks...Shawn

Run it all the way out and just keep running it until it rolls back up…. May have rolled up the wrong way when you manually did it???

Same thought here.

You'll know it's wound on backwards if the awning material winds onto the bottom side of the roller... it should wind onto the TOP.

If the pin broke when it was extended, and you replaced it with it retracted, it may think it's still extended. Just thinking out loud. We don't have a power awning on ours. It has a pull start...

Great advice and most likely you are exactly correct. The TT is parked next to our house so the next time we go ahead I will do exactly this and report back. Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions...much appreciated!

My wife ran our awning in upside down last week just before we were going camping, lol. I only noticed because I bumped the button to make sure it was tight and it started unrolling.
