Some Initial Items on 2015 Jayflight 28BHBE

Overall, rather pleased with our new 2015 Jayflight 28BHBE. Some items:

(1) Jayflight forgot a cabinet door and the sink cover. Dealer gave us the sink cover and dealer ordered the cabinet door and will install as warranty item.

(2) We got the thermal package. I was looking under the trailer and noticed that sometimes the installers missed the frame with a screw. The screw was just handing loose or had fallen out leaving a hole in the plastic like underbelly material. I am going to get some closed-cell foam and back the screws out and seal any holes.

(3) I think there is a problem with the electric tongue jack, We brought it up too far - all the way up to pin in foot shaft - and it blew the fuse. Now, can do easily by hand, but blows fuse right away. If we damaged it that one time - if it is really that fragile - I'll go back to cranking. Is it really that fragile?

All else seems fine on the trailer. Quite pleased overall.

As far as the power jack, if the jack is fully retracted or extended it will blow the in-line fuse by design, thus protecting the motor from an overload condition.

Just curious does it have all the same options as the 2014, I've heard they have a standard and elite model, and the elite model has all the options that the 2014 had but the standard one doesn't, did you go with Alum or Fiberglass sided, again just curious, I 'm kinda in between both right now.

I've run the jack up and down to its stops and never popped the fuse. Of course when I get close to the end of travel, I'm ready to dump the switch so I'm not still holding it after it's done moving. But I also have a box of 30 amp fuses just in case.

I hope you like your 28BHBE as much as we like ours!

Camper_bob: stopped at the auto parts store and bought a box of 25 30 amp fuses on the way home after parking the trailer last night! I think I'll like the trailer a lot once we get all moved in.

ont_tt: I ordered a 2014 all specified; the factory came back and said I was getting a 2015. I can pm you the build sheet if you would like. Some of what was optional on 2014 became standard, there were different options packaged together, etc. I ended up getting a little more at the same price.

Only 7 days until I pick up my 2014 28BHBE.... Went to see it last Friday.... Dealer has started some of the PDI work on it!



For those who have one with the electric tongue jack....is there a power switch for it (either inside the TT or somewhere on the A frame) to cut the power once you park it, so that no one comes and plays with it!

There's no switch (at least from the factory), but there is an in-line 30A fuse you can remove, but IIRC that stops the charger from maintaining the battery as well...

Is this a common problem? I've never heard of anyone messing with the switches on the jack before a couple people here had mentioned it...?

If the TT was parked in my driveway I wouldn't worry, but I have to store my TT at in storage facility and although I leave the propane tanks and battery on the A frame there hasn't been any issues yet!

But I would feel safer knowing that the power is fully disconnected and that no one can come and fiddle with it...


But maybe I'm just a bit too paranoid...

Then just do like I do; take the battery off and keep it at home on a float charger. I replaced the crappy strap that is included with a nice slide snap-buckle strap, got some wing nuts for the leads, and I'm in business. I never leave it in storage with the battery on it.

Look at it this way, you want to disconnect the battery anyway to limit discharge from parasitic current draw, why not just take an extra second and throw it in the truck and take it with you? Then you don't have to worry about people messing with it and you always have a fully charged and healthy battery.
