Sticker remnant and glue residue removal

I have a 2021 237RBS camper/trailer. It has the standard Jayco metal siding (that looks like vinyl siding), not the smooth fiberglass siding. The camper has many informational stickers on the outside. All of them came off easily and I relocated them inside the front storage compartment for future reference, except that one or two stickers peeled off only about 85% and left very small pieces of the sticker still stuck to the outside of the camper.

I tried removing this sticker residue with Goof Off in a very small area (the size of a penny). It removed the sticker remnants and the glue residue without affecting the outside of the camper. Then I tried doing this to another adjacent area (about the same size), and it started to remove a little of the paint. So I stopped and rinsed it off with water. Tried removing the sticker remnants with my finger nail, but it was just smearing them.

Anyone have any luck removing sticker remnants / glue residue off this type of siding? If so, what did you use?

Try "Goo Gone" brand spray gel. (not the same as Goo Gone)

Give it some dwell time, about 15 minutes in a shady area.

Then wipe away with towel soaked in hot water.

I have had good luck with citrus cleaners.

I have had "ok" success with adhesive removal wheels. But have not used it on something as smooth as a TT aluminum siding.

Smear a little peanut butter over the remnants before you start scraping. The oil in the nut butter keeps the scrapings from sticking back onto the sidewall.

WD-40 works sometimes. Lighter fluid is great for melting away adhesives (and also when you get pine sap/pitch on your fingers). You can try brake/carb cleaner, but that's a harsher solvent. Contact cleaner is a gentler solvent than brake cleaner. Always try on an inconspicuous part of your surface.

Well that's several methods that I can give a try. Thanks everyone.

I guess I'll start with the non-chemical ideas first (the peanut butter and then citrus cleaner, even Dawn dish soap), and then work my way up to the chemical methods. However, based on my attempt with the Goof Off, I'm afraid that the paint may also come off the siding with the Goo-B-Gone, lighter fluid, and brake cleaner ideas. (I think the Goof Off that I used is basically lighter fluid anyway). The WD40 might work. I'll have to be careful and try them all in an inconspicuous area first.

X2 on wd40 won't harm the paint . Works good for removing pitch on cars also.

We have also rubbed a small amount of 3M oil on the goop and let it sit 30 or so minutes. It usually will wipe off and soap will remove the oil.

Using a heat gun on low or a hair drier on the decals usually softens the adhesive, making removal easier.

I used this product to remove all the stickers and labels from my new 2021 5th Wheel.

Worked great. Spray on. Let set for a minute. Wipe adhesive off.

Correction - I meant to say "not the same as Goof Off.

I read that 3 times before I determined it was a typo or something.

Thanks for the few more ideas for me to try. I guess the 3M oil is "3-in-one" oil?

I think it's too late for the heat gun. The stickers that didn't completely come off were purposely made to come apart like they did (leaving pieces behind) to show if you tampered with them. Why Jayco would put that kind of sticker on the trailer is beyond me.

Turtle Wax label and sticker remover I never saw before. I'll have to get a can.

And as far as the correction to the "Goo Gone" post typo, I didn't think you made a typo. When I was looking for the Goof Off glue remover at Lowes, I noticed that they also had a Goo Gone gel. The display showed that it was different than the regular Goo Gone in that you let the gel sit for a while before removing it. So I thought it was slightly weaker than the regular Goo Gone, and that's what I thought you were alluding to in your post when you said that the gel was "not the same as Goo Gone".

Just as a followup... I decided to try the WD40 to remove the sticker and glue remnants from the outside of my trailer. It worked great. Took a little while, but got everything off without ruining anything or removing any paint. Rinsed the areas with water after.

Thanks all for the suggestions.

These camper sticker glues might be too strong, but sometimes a sanitizing wipe can remove adhesive as well.

Hair dryer. Use it all the time on bumper stickers, window stickers, labels on bottles, etc.
