Stopping the bounce

Is there an easy way to stop the constant bounce in our trailer. We are level and set up. Do have x-chocks for between the wheels. Will this help? New to trailer camping and they came with camper. TIA😀

X chocks work great for back and forth motion but you can add scissor jacks or even bottle jacks to the middle of the unit to combat bounce. There's a lot of systems out there that work great. I prefer extra jacks and a step jack. Almost eliminates the bounce house effect.

We recently set up and were in a hurry. It was not long afterwards the wife pointed out we sure were bouncing a lot. That's when it hit me, I was in such a hurry I did not put the X chocks out! Dear Wife said just forget it as everything was out and did not want to move things around to close slides. So, a little later and a few more bounces, I climbed underneath the slide outs and put them in the hard way. Big difference right away. Does not eliminate all the wiggle, but sure makes a difference.

You mean you don't always crawl under to put them on?

Right? I just thought that's the way it was!

Seriously, I did that for a while, but then I said "no more". Now I deploy the X-chock on the slide side before the slide is deployed.

Been there..done it. My big butt crawling under a slide in a family campground is against policy I believe. NOBODY wants to see that!
Then of course, momma steps in and says, " Why don't you put them in before putting the slides out?"

Started a similar discussion a few days ago focused on how much tension I could put on the scissor jacks. Net - I now put more tension on them than I had previously and with both X chocks screwed in tight there was almost no bounce or wiggle. Big difference in two chocks vs one. Still may need to check the jacks the next day after setup and walking around in the trailer a bit. They seem to lose a bit of tension after the first setup. I also crawled under the slide out to put the chock in. I get in a rush to get my wife in the trailer to start her setup routine and forget. We've only been out 3 times so far so I'm hoping to get better at doing things in the right order next time.

We are now on our third travel trailer. We have found the longer you are the more bounce. With our current camper we use stabilizer jacks in our slides and that has dramatically stopped the side to side bounce. Our kids bunkhouse is in a slide- we would feel it every time someone would roll over at night. With our last camper, we did install strut stabilizers. All of these went with the x chocks. Nothing was over the top expensive or hard to install. The slide stabilizer jacks have made the most difference for us with this camper as we have opposing dual slides in the kitchen/living area.
Good luck being bounce free!
Happy Camping.

I put the Roto-choks on before I unhook the truck, just to keep anything from moving! IMHO, the Roto-choks are far superior in holding quality (and ease to install) than the X-chocks. It's too bad that they are now off the open-market.

I just extend the scissor jacks with my drill taking just a little weight off the wheels and no bounce at all. Zero bounce.

I didn't see mention of what size your trailer is ... mine is 39 foot and we had a lot of bounce in the middle even with x chocks .... suspension gives so I installed an extra set of scissor jacks in the middle right in front of axles with angle bars attatched to frame from them and it is now solid ... no bounce

If you want to stop bounce then you must get suspension out of play. As Paintman said, 39 footer he added jacks in the center.

Personally a little bounce does not bother me so I use my wheel set and suspension as part of my support group.

Will the X-Chocks work with the Equa-Flex axles? Seems like the pressure would push the axles apart.

The only for sure way to stop all bounce is to not walk while in your trailer. Seriously, I don't even notice it anymore. When I first started full time I would notice all movement and running my Splendide washer/dryer combo drove me nuts. Now I can start a load and go to bed and sleep right through the entire cycle.

I recently replaced my entry steps (3 step original) with these: GlowStep Revolution | scissor steps connect RV to ground level for towables, fifth wheels and side entry campers | Torklift International.

Not because of the diving board effect when entering or leaving, but to add the 4th step. But the diving board effect is totally gone since these steps have 2 adjustable feet that go to the ground.

Here is the new vs old pictures. Great improvement when entering or leaving and less movement to the RV as another feature.

We also added extra scissor jacks on our last camper and it made a huge difference. Plan to do the same to our new camper.

Wow! Roto-Chocks! I remember those. They were definitely easier than X-chocks. But like you said, they must be obsolete.

We've got a little tt but the bounce is noticeable
It's got just two stabilizers
That is entirely insufficient in high winds. Yesterday 60 mph winds in a storm felt like it would topple over

Single axle trailer. Any advice for supplemental stabilizers?

I have a set of Roto-Chocks that I purchased many years ago from the inventor. They still work better than any I ever used.

I have seen them on ebay used. No way to wear them out.
