Stopping those squeaks?

Our bathroom door, cabinets and now the main entry door, have developed a squeak — especially in damper locales. Unlike a door at home, the hinges have rounded ends top and bottom and it doesn’t look like you can pry the pin out to oil. Also, they seem to have small nylon “washers” in between the sections of the hinge. I’m thinking I could blast them from outside with silicone lube but it’s likely to be a little messy. Any good solutions? Thanks!

We keep a can of Blaster Silicone lubricant in our Seneca... and use almost one can/year for just what you are describing. It is not really messy at all... just wipe the excess with a paper towel.

Spray a little silicone in a screw type bottle cap and dip a Qtip in it and apply it to the hinge and you won’t have a spray mess.

Any type of penetrating oil will work as it seeps into the cracks between the hinges. I even used some warmed up coconut oil on my fingers and rubbed it into the hinges on one trip.

I just drip rem oil at the top of the hinge and work it whole holding a paper towel at the bottom. Usually lasts about a year.

Just down the side? The rounded cap on top seems to prevent putting anything in from the top. Thanks!

Try this product made by Sherwin Williams, we use it on the flap hinges on our plane. It removes dirt and corrosion, we have found it to be a great lubricant that does not attract dirt. The bottle has a flexible applicator tube to pinpoint where you want to product.

Thanks. I think we used to use that on our mountain bikes. Sounds familiar.

It'll penetrate into the hinge as it runs down, seeping into the hinge spaces.
