sway bar experience

I am getting ready to purchase a Jay Feather 24t. I pull with a 2005 Ford F250 diesel. Is it necessary to install the sway/stablizer bar unit? I often pull a 16ft tandem axle trailer (not evenly loaded) with no problem at all. Current trailer is a pop-up which of course pulls well.

Low profile trailers like pop ups and utility trailers don't need it because they are not subject to crosswinds and passing trucks. Travel trailers are 10 ft tall or more and are very sensitive to those things-using weight distribution with sway control keeps these under control. It is the safest way to go.

I am buying the trailer this week. Dealer is throwing in the stabilizer gear for my drop hitch.

The purpose of the w/d system is to transfer some of the TT weight to the TV front axles. While your truck is stout enough I recommend using a w/d system to ensure a more even distribution of you TT weight to the TV.

i have a 02 f250 crew with a short bed. i pull all kinds of equipment trailers with no running gear. My tt is a 28' and the gear makes it tow much smoother. The first time you end up in the center lane between 2 semi's you'll know what i'm talking about. i recomend taking the time to make sure the gear is dialed in correctly and your heights are correct. also for sway hp dual cam is the way to go.....friction will stop once it happens cams prevent it. well worth it at a fraction of a hensly (which is the ultimate system just too pricey for me)
