Switch function

We just bought a 2015 Bungalow 40FER not quite a month ago and we can't determine what one on of the switches operate. Its the large rocker switch by the kitchen counter on the back wall-it looks like one of the fan switches but doesn't operate the fan. We've looked in all the manuals and we can't find anything that gives us a clue as to what it operates. Does anyone have any idea what that particular switch operates? Thanks in advance for any help you might provide. We're going crazy trying to figure this out.

Welcome. If a residential size then most likely it is the fan that only operates on 110V. You must be plugged in for it to operate.

If it is a smaller rocker lower to the floor these usually operate lights upon entry or exit.

We live in the Bungalow so we're already plugged in. We thought there may have been two fan switches for the living room fan-one in the living room and another in the kitchen. Seems like only the switch in the living room operates that fan. It's a residential size rocker switch. The switch is mid chest level on the wall behind the counter (near the end of the counter closet to the sliding glass door), next to an electric wall outlet.

We thought that to at first. The only outlet near it is the one next to it and we tested the switch for outlet use. Its almost like its a dead switch but that doesn't really make sense. We even thought it might be a three way fan switch but we tried that too with zero results. Its really a mystery.

No we didn't! Didn't think of that actually. Will test that and let everyone know what the results are.

Unfortunately a no go on that suggestion nbhybrid. Doesn't appear the switch is wired into the outside plug.

Have you checked all of the bulbs to be sure lights work? Had a switch I couldn't figure out for the longest time so finally called the dealer. Turns out it was a "dump station" light, but it didn't/doesn't work which is why I couldn't figure it out.

The porch light switches (front and back) are in the control panel box on the top cupboard (the one you can see in the pic with the key hooks on it). Even tried using the wall rocker switch with the control box rocker switch-zero!

I guess I shouldn't have thought porch light as it is 12volt and the switch is a regular household 120volt switch.

is there a garburator or a provision for one?...outlet under sink?

anything to do with fireplace?

I guess you will have to call Jayco. If I was there I could figure it out but I have no idea.

We didn't check all the bulbs robkelly. Will for sure check for that this evening. That wouldn't have ever crossed our minds!

I think you can rule out lights since they would use an automotive 12volt rocker switch.

IMO this has something to do with something that is 120volt

That makes perfect sense nbhybrid. We're not newbies when it comes to knowing our way around an RV but this def makes us feel like we are!

I still strongly believe it is for an outside outlet...did you check them all?

MYSTERY SOLVED! nbhybrid-the switch operates the outside outlet on the OTHER side of the trailer-the side the slide-outs are on. Thats is a very odd configuation! We NEVER woudl have thought it to be wired to the backside outlet! Thanks everyone for your suggestions, and thanks nbhybrid for stickign to the outside outlet belief. Have to say we feel kinda silly for not checking that outlet when we checked the other one!

YAY!! Mystery solved!

No need to feel silly about that one. I would never have thought to check an off-side outlet, that seems VERY strange to me...

My 40FER has a "mish-mash" of switches, outlets of various shapes and sizes on the wall where you described. Very poorly laid out. I can hardly remember from day to day which one is which. How will I do when I get back to it next month and been gone since April.
I think a label maker is going to do it once and for all. There seems to be no logic to their layout.
