tape seal at the end of aluminium siding

At the end of each aluminium siding blade there is a tape seal.
What do you all do with that seal ?
The RV store say that we need to reseal that every year.
I looked at how it's done in youtube.
Basically they remove all of the seal completely before putting a new one.
I'm just afraid that it is worse off than what the factory has put in.
All it takes is just one mishap on putting that seal in, and the leak will destroy the wooden structure behind the joint.
Can you please share your experience on maintaining those seal ?
Also unlike fiberglass where the edges between the wall is straight and it is easy to see if there is seal that is broken.
The aluminium siding is not straight at the end. So the seal just look to be jumbled up, and it's hard to see if it does proper seal or not.

Sorry, it's aluminium siding. Forget about the blade
The tape seal is this tape seal:
Dicor Butyl Tape

It's the seal on the attached area is what I mean.
The picture is not my RV. Mine is almost brand new. But I just want to give an idea of the seal I'm talking about

After a year or so, or after it quits oozing, you just trim the excess and perimeter deal with geocel proflex or the sealant of your choice.

BigJOhnD, so you or the dealer never remove the edge, take out the seal and put a new one completely ?

To do a complete new seal you would have to remove the vinyl trim, screws, corner molding, and butyl tape. I know of noone that does this every year as suggested. Mine is 6 years old and that seal has not been touched as the butyl still looks good. If the butyl tape develops cracks then it may need to be addressed.

I don't remove the trim. Just trim off the excess butyl, then do a small bead of sealer where the trim meets the wall. I've never removed the whole molding. Always best to leave well enough alone.

My trailer is only 3 1/2 years old but I never replaced that butyl. As said before, no need to remove the trim and put new stuff on, if it looks like you might need something I would just add a good caulk in the seam.
