TCL tv and iRv36 hookup

I feel pretty tech savvy but how on earth do I connect the audio from a TCL tv to the iRv36 panel? I’ve tried traditional red/yellow/white cables into zone 1 in the back. I did a single audio out to red/white zone 1. Do I need a fancy HDMI that does arc? Would like to pump our movies through the sound system this trailer came with.

Do both have an optic cable connection?

The iRV 62 installed in our trailer has the optical on the right side of the unit as viewed from the front, the unit has to come out and the cable routed and plugged in, then re-install into the cabinet. The receptacle is a small 1mm box with a retractable cover and a notch on one side, matching your plug.

The HDMI on the IRV36 is a throughput OUT to the TV. It does not connect to the headunit. To get the TV sound you have to connect the TVs audio OUT to the IRV36 AUX IN.
We also got some powered computer speakers from BestBuy with a sub that was small enough to fit behind the TV and they are connected to the IRV36 zone 1 out via RCA cables.
The TV is connected to R-in and L-in on the back of the IRV36. Then set the IRV36 to the AUX channel, turn TV on and it will work. You might have to go into your TV audio settings to make sure that its output is activated, might say something like TV speakers and/or soundbar. Also it might have a choice between Fixed or Variable output.
