Temporary without a trailer-but a good thing

After four years enjoying our Jayco Jayflight 26BH we finally sold it.

My wife and I are saving our pennies, dimes and nickels along with what we received for the trailer to upgrade to a little larger trailer.

We loved the layout of the 26BH but it became a little cramped with our daughter growing up and the dog always being under foot. So now we are looking at moving up a little to the 28BHBE (wife loves the larger bathroom)

Down side is missing out on some good camping weather down here in Texas near the end of the year and into 2017.

With luck we should be able to order a new trailer in Nov/Dec. We don't like to finance so we hope we can get a good deal walking in with cash.

With the current wait times for new units reported here on the forum give yourself plenty of time before needed when ordering if at all possible. Seems like they can`t make them fast enough now to keep up with demand.

I have a 28BHBE, the bathroom is excellent, especially the shower. I am 6'4"and have no problems showering. The bunks are also very large, but plan on buying mattress toppers for them.

Love our 28BHBE as well - The bathroom does make us the envy of our friends and family. Good luck with whatever you choose!

Just got a White Hawk 28DSBH on August 3. We're loving it! Good luck with it! I can't wait until my daughter and son-in-law get assigned to Bourne again... Northern Virginia is a little too far for weekend trips... Lots of nice parks along 281 between us and you... Enjoy!

Our first TT was a 26' Dutchman which had the same floorplan as your 26BH. Even the little slide in our Jayflight 29BHS was a big improvement over the Dutchman, and now the 28BHBE simply blows them all away. So much room, especially for those inside days, and yes the big bathroom & shower are best feature.

Dealers get a kickback when they sell financing.. so don't count on much of a discount for that.. but knock 30% off the asking price before you even start. No trade is also worth a discount..

Also, when you finance your vehicle, the bank sends the dealership full payment immediately. Paying cash means nothing to a vehicle dealership... they get payment in full either way.

True, they do get full payment but they also get a % or two of the finance for the life of the loan.

I sold mine for almost twice what they were going to give me on trade... and that in itself is a big discount...

I was going to say the same thing. I worked in wholesale lending doing indirect loans for many years, and there is definitely extra profit to the dealership when you finance, so I wouldn't let them know you're paying cash until AFTER you landed on a final price. Nothing wrong with saying you will finance and then changing your mind. Remember those old Carmax commercials where they used a long skinny balloon to demonstrate how dealerships work? Squeeze one end the other gets bigger - it's exactly like that! The dealership also gets a kickback from the manufacturer above and beyond the invoice price and usually a volume incentive as well. In other words, they pay less than invoice when all is said and done. Shopping on or near the last day of the month often yields the best deal, especially if they need your sale to meet the next incentive level from the manufacturer. If you shop earlier in the month, be prepared to walk away. I've used this method when buying cars and each and every time, they call me back at month end to offer me a better deal. Best of luck to you and kudos for paying cash!
