The microwave in my 2016 Jayco is possessed!

First off, I spend most of my time deep in the woods of the Pacific Northwest with my Baja 185RB. There are all kinds of creepy sounds out in these wildernesses. These are not campgrounds, I boondock way out there, so these are remote areas that are alive with dangerous animals. I often see cougar and bear scat in the morning right outside my door as if to say, "leave now!"

One night, dark and raining.......I hear this "Grrrrrrrrrrr" sound! There it is again..."Grrrrrrrrrrr".....it was NOT coming from outside!....it was coming from INSIDE!!! Aaahhhhhhhhaahhh! What the *&%$# going on!?? I just covered my head with my blanket and tried to ignore it.

Is sounded like the scary sound in the movie GRUDGE. Do you remember the scratching grrrrrrrr sound in that movie when that EVIL spirit came around? It sounds exactly like that! ERRRRRRrrrrggggggggrrrr! LOL!

I could not track it down, till I finally got back into town. It was the microwave! After researching it online, others have reported the same thing in microwave ovens. It is a bad power supply or capacitor about to die. It may be from me running the microwave off the generator so much. On eco boost, it has to "ramp-up" and it may be damaging it. No worries, microwaves only cost $99.

It makes me wonder if that night deep in the woods, dark and rainy....if the microwave would have growled at me, then caught fire! THAT would have really freaked me out as an EVIL microwave!

I agree with Seann45. Under warranty have them check it out. If your running an inverter style generator like a Honda it's very unlikely that it damaged the microwave. Now if your running a construction site style generator that has a dirty sine wave then it could have damaged the microwave and any other electronics. If you boondock that much I would highly recommend the Honda inverter line of generators. Super quite and very clean power.

I am running a non-Honda generator, but I think it has the same electronics.

I've had to fix several things myself on this rig. Water pump failed, bathroom wall separation, door lock broke.... One repair was to remove and replace the front window seal! That was a big job, and by myself too! As mentioned, it is a 2016 model. I've had to spend about $1000 on repairs and about 60 hrs of my time!

Warranty? I envy those who have a positive experience with that. Jayco doesn't even have a phone number for their warranty office. The dealerships I have called all tell me they are very busy, and the rig would be sitting for 2-6 weeks before they can start working on it, and another 4-6 weeks to complete the job....and that is if warranty agrees to pay for it. I was shocked at every response I got from RV centers that service Jayco.

The only thing I had left was to learn HOW to be a RV repairman. I had to learn how to fix it myself. I live in this rig, where am I going to stay for 3 months while they fix the leaky window, when I can fix it in one sunny afternoon?

I'll gladly pay for the $99 microwave oven to steer clear of dealerships.
